Welcome to Arlington Bird Control: Prevention and Removal of Unwanted Birds

Our company specializes in resolving problems caused by birds in Arlington, Virginia, both residential and commerical. We handle bird species such as pigeons, starlings, grackles, sparros, and even Canada Geese and woodpeckers. We generally don't kill birds - we prevent them from causing problems. Most commonly, this means that we install barriers that prevent them access to your building or property, or anti-roosting devices that prevent them from landing, nesting, or roosting on your home, store, building, or anywhere. We use netting, needle strips, shock track, and more. We do offer trapping in some cases, and removal of birds from warehouses, grocery stores, or other commerical or industrial buildings by netting or sometimes pellet shooting. We have a wide variety of tools and methods for solving every manner of bird problem. Call us at 571-347-9827 to discuss your bird problem today.

Stop Birds From Landing Or Roosting

We install needle strips or shock track on ledges, beams, the tops of signs, and anywhere birds are roosting and causing unsightly and unhealthy droppings. We can reach any area with our ladders and boom lifts.

We Clean Droppings and Nesting Material

Birds can make a mess with their droppings - on your building, roof, or the ground, or any other area. Sometimes bird guano and nesting material accumulate. We professionally clean and decontaminate the area.

DIY Bird Netting Process

Before we start, we'd just like to mention that it is definitely recommended to get a professional to install bird netting, and also to maintain it. This is more so the case if you are inexperienced and haven't done your research. It is not the case that you can just throw a bunch of netting around and hope for the best; there are many more things out take into consideration than that.

Bird netting comes in different sizes, and you'll need to find the right size for your specific bird problem. If you have pigeons on their own, great. You can buy pigeon-safe netting that has fairly large holes, enabling them to see and then avoid it, knowing there's no way to get through. At the same time, smaller birds (that you might not mind having around) can still pass through the gaps between the netting.

If you have a problem with other, smaller bird species at the same time as pigeons, such as sparrows or starlings, one size of bird netting will not fit all. As we previously mentioned, smaller birds can still fit through the gaps designed to keep the larger birds out. The sensible thing (you might think) would be to buy netting that has smaller gaps, but although this can work to keep out the smaller birds, it's actually likely to seriously injure the bigger ones. They are unable to see the fine netting as much as they can see the bigger stuff, and this leaves them vulnerable to becoming trapped and tangled.

Maintenance of bird netting is vital to ensure that NO birds get caught up in it, and this can easily happen if parts of it are not held in place securely, left to blow and flap around. Sadly, this flapping-around doesn't seem to work effectively at repelling the birds, large or small, although you might have thought it would.

Not only is the planning, purchasing, and installation of bird netting quite a complex task, so is getting the timing right. Unlike other birds and animals, particularly pest animals, pigeons don't just have one or two times per year that intensify their breeding action. Instead, these birds will breed all-year-around if the conditions are right, and if they've got plenty of food in your back garden and a source of shelter on your property, the conditions really are just right.

Do we recommend that you perform a DIY bird netting job? No. We recommend that you hire a professional to make sure this job is done right the first time. With all the wandering around on the roof that you'll need to do, it's not the kind of job that you're going to want to do more than once.
